We wish you all very special holidays, and a happy new year! Here's our final Employee Spotlight for the year 2021: starring our Managing Director, Carl Brassey. 

  1. Carl, how long have you worked at Berwick Care? 17 years!
  2. What does your job entail? Really hard to quantify, but I see my role as being to do whatever it takes to achieve the following (in the order shown):
    1. Improve the lives of our staff and ensure they are happy
    2. Bring innovation and improvements to the care industry so our grandparents get the care they deserve
    3. Make the company profitable
  1. If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor? I think the Queen must be the ultimate mentor.  Her ability to make people feel special and uplifted is unique and inspiring.  She is dignified and yet brings humour and humanity to her job.
  2. What do you like to do when you aren’t working? Walk, swim, laze on a beach or just have friends around for good food and a good drink!
  3. What is a fun fact about you many people may not know? My little toe is completely immobile – it’s like a dead limb on the edge of my foot.
  4. Name one skill you would absolutely love to learn? I would love to be able to fly a plane but not just anything – it would have to be fast. ‍️
  5. What is your motto or personal mantra? Treat other people how they want to be treated
  6. If you could have any superpower what would it be? The ability to instantly think of interesting, witty responses to questions like this.
  7. What is one food that you cannot resist? Practically anything with too much sugar in 
  8. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose? Probably superman.  Popping to the shops would be so much easier if you could just fly.  And lugging stuff to the beach on a day out would be effortless.
